Salient’s mission is to advance the impact of leading healthcare innovations, by providing the healthtech ecosystem market intelligence, advisory and partnership facilitation.
This month we’re launching two new services to directly support a limited number of startups in: 1) landing global health partnerships and 2) improving operations for scale.
Land global health partnerships
In response to demand, we’re offering a limited set of healthtech startups support to land public sector deals with a special focus on: donors (private foundations, Grand Challenges Canada, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, more), global health agencies (such as The Global Fund) and select governments.
As fractional members of your team, Salient can help you in 4 ways:
- Strengthen your pitch decks to better illustrate your businesses public health / global health impact, in the language and frameworks these partners require
- Support meetings with executives from potential public sector / global health customers, helping ensure the potential impact of your startup on public purchasers’ goals is well understood, and also ensure your team can interpret the needs, questions and approaches of the donors, agencies and government officials
- Support proposal writing, by providing reviews, coaching and inputs
- Support contract negotiation, including issues that may arise around global access requirements, charitability, and more as a public purchaser attempts to engage your for-profit company
At this time, we are only able to support the pursuit of larger partnerships estimated to be >$1M in value. The compensation structure is a mix of fee-for-service and a success fee.
If you’re currently in discussions with global health partners and are interested in support, send us an email or get in touch here so we can better understand your needs. Our bandwidth is limited; our goal is to help 3-5 startups land deals this year.
Please note: If you’re part of the i3 cohort and would like this support, please email Malyse directly.
Improve your operations for scale
We’re also partnering with a leading executive with deep experience building profitable healthcare companies in Africa, Mr. Amaan Khalfan, to offer select startups targeted support to improve operations. Mr. Khalfan works with executive teams to identify operational gaps and provide solutions to close these gaps, creating more viable, attractive and presentable businesses cases for growth-stage enterprises.
As the CEO of Goodlife Pharmacy (East Africa’s largest private retail pharmacy network, backed by a private equity firm), Mr. Khalfan built a network of over 150 profitable pharmacies, through developing a client loyalty programme, managing an aggressive M&A strategy, and building operational efficiency through enhanced procurement and cost management. He has been an executive member of the Board, leading the expansion of these entities, developing the strategy and managing the operations to deliver top line revenue and EBITDA. These culminated in driving the valuation of the business to an all time high, securing an exit to a strategic investor. Mr. Khalfan has also served as COO of a chain of over 50 private outpatient medical clinics, developed dental and vision care units, and increased EBITDA through reengineering, revenue enhancements and improving operational efficiencies.
If you’re interested in fractional C-level support to superpower your growth, send us an email or get in touch here so we can better understand your needs.
As always, we’re cheering for the success of innovations that can transform access to care.
Onward and upward!
